Just another reason not to shop at Target, something I haven't done in years.
ZitatAmid national controversy over gender-specific bathrooms, Target is encouraging store employees and customers to use the restrooms and fitting rooms that align with their gender identities.
"We believe that everyone—every team member, every guest, and every community—deserves to be protected from discrimination, and treated equally," Target said in a news release dated April 19.
Most relevant for the conversations currently underway, we welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity," the company said.
Last September, Target voiced its support for the federal Equality Act, which would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to encompass gender identity and sexual orientation
I have to admit I find the 2016 election season disgusting and no one emerges unsullied on either side. I have no idea for whom I will vote, nor even if I will.
Okay, I admit I find this whole bathroom thing totally weird.
Let's get practical...if some beefy-looking person wearing a dress and makeup attempts to enter a woman's restroom, is the staff going to physically stop him? Strip search him? What, exactly, WILL happen? What SHOULD happen?
Personally, I try very hard to never use a public restroom. I find them disgusting. Ugh, you don't know what germs abound.
And I have never, NEVER understood women wanting to "hang out" in there...smoking cigarettes (back in the day), adjusting their dresses, putting on makeup, etc. I understand if you've got to change a baby, but the rest just creeps me out. Be more like men...just use it and GET OUT of there already.
No wonder the lines in women's restrooms are a mile long.
The thing is according to the article, its not just restrooms, its CHANGING rooms also. Imagine the opportunities for the male voyeur with that one!
I tried to call Target's customer relations number earlier and couldn't get through. I was told they are experiencing a higher than normal call volume and to expect a long wait of at least 45 minutes.
Here's hoping enough feedback is negative and they will experience enough lost revenue that they will cave and reverse this policy but I'm not holding my breath.
In the meantime I'm left with 3 options:
1. Quit shopping at Target and let them know why.
2. Shop but do not ever use the facilities, restrooms or changing rooms.
3. Shop but if I absolutely have to use either take a male family member in with me to guard the doors!
It seems to the PTB we are getting rather aggressive as far as pushing treating us all as live stock not human beings deserving of being treated with some dignity.
It is rumored that Babs travels with her own Winnebago so she doesn't have to endure the indignity of using a public restroom. I'll bet she's one of the ones who have signed on to boycotting NC.
Not only that, but Queen Hillary was late in coming back to one of the debates when she allegedly refused to use a restroom because a mere commoner was already using it.
Some animals are just more equal than others, it seems.
ZitatA conservative Christian activist group has gained more than half a million signatures and counting from people pledging to boycott Target over its transgender bathroom policy.
The petition started by the American Family Association on Wednesday raises concerns that Target's inclusive stance on transgender rights encourages sexual predators and puts women and young girls in danger, because "a man can simply say he 'feels like a woman today' and enter the women's restroom."
The boycott has more than 503,000 signatures as of Monday morning, marking it as one of AFA's most popular campaigns.
