October 5, 2015 Hungary builds border wall to keep out Muslim migrants, faces potential expulsion from EU By Thomas Lifson
Push is rapidly coming to shove in the European Union, as the flood of Muslim “migrants” is encountering resistance from populations well aware of what happens when Muslim immigrants take over entire districts and convert them into sharia-compliant no-go zones. While politically correct governments in countries like Germany and Sweden (see below) ignore the negative consequences on their citizenries, in the former Soviet bloc members of the EU, PC has no potency, for these people have lived under political correctness severely enforced.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban is riding a wave of public support in the wake of erecting a barbed wire fence to prevent more migrants from entering his country, which is obligated by EU policies to offer support to refugees. Paul Bracchi writes in the U.K. Daily Mail:
Zitat [A] barricade — 4m high and constructed in six weeks on the back of prison labour — runs the length of the country's 110-mile border with Serbia.
The Berlin Wall, by comparison, was 96 miles long. This hinterland between Hungary and the Balkans was once the main entry point to the European Union for the diaspora pouring out of the Middle East.
Today, on the Hungarian side, waiting for anyone who breaches the barricade, are squads of police reinforced by SWAT teams from Hungary's elite Counter Terrorism Centre (TEC).
The role of these officers, in black commando uniforms, is to 'capture persons that pose a danger for themselves and the public' — a mission statement that leaves little doubt about the way Budapest views the wave of asylum seekers we have all seen on the TV news.
The EU is aghast:
Zitat Under the EU's controversial Dublin regulation, refugees have to claim asylum in the first 'safe' EU country they arrive in. Serbia is not in the EU and Greece, which would normally be responsible for registering many of those now crossing the Aegean Sea, is no longer considered a 'safe state' because of its austerity programmes.
So the burden has fallen on Hungary, because, geographically, it is first EU country that migrants travelling through the Balkans reach. (snip)
Will Hungary be kicked out of the EU? Perhaps that question can be answered with another one. When was the last time anyone got kicked out of the EU? French President François Hollande says: 'States that don't respect European values should ask if they belong within the EU.'
Hungary, unlike German or Sweden, was invaded by the Ottoman Turks and suffered greatly. In the richer countries that were shielded from the Turks, the political elites, if not their constituents, are sticking with PC. In Germany, where Chancellor Angela Merkel is insisting on the PC approach, Merkel was caught on a hot mic conspiring with Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg to delete posts expressing popular disagreement with her policies as “hate speech.” In Sweden, there is a media blackout on Muslim immigrant crime and popular disgust over the welfare system being overwhelmed by mass migration, leaving Swedes as second-class citizens:
Zitat More and more senior citizens fall into the "indigent" category; close to 800,000 of Sweden's 2.1 million retirees, despite having worked their whole lives, are forced to live on between 4,500 and 5,500 kronor ($545 - $665) a month. Meanwhile, seniors who immigrate to Sweden receive the so-called "elderly support subsidy" -- usually a higher amount -- even though they have never paid any taxes in Sweden.
Worse, in 2013 the government decided that people staying in the country illegally have a right to virtually free health and dental care. So while the destitute Swedish senior citizen must choose between paying 100,000 kronor ($12,000) to get new teeth or living toothless, a person who does not even have the right to stay in Sweden can get his teeth fixed for 50 kronor ($6).
The injustice, the housing shortage, the chaos surrounding refugee housing units and the sharp slide of Swedish students in PISA tests -- all these changes have caused the Swedes to become disillusioned.
The European Union is one of the most politically correct entities on the planet, accustomed to taking self-righteous postures. But since the fall of communism and its expansion to include former Soviet satellites, the EU has had to deal with populations who actually experienced PC enforced by communist parties. Ironically, after being liberated from communism, it may be the Hungarians who help the PC-oppressed Germans, Swedes, and French overthrow (via elections) their repressive governments.
