WASHINGTON — The British are now scared that Scotland will leave the United Kingdom. Prime Minister David Cameron said that a vote for an independent Scotland will undermine the United Kingdom’s standing in the world.
Reuters reported that the United Kingdom, composed of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, faces one of the toughest independence movements in recent memory.
Cameron’s Conservative Party only holds one of fifty-nine seats in Scotland. Among Cameron’s remarks, he said, “If we lost Scotland, if the UK changed, we would rip the rug from under our own reputation. The plain fact is we matter more in the world together.”
The vote will take place on September 18th, and it is pivotal because Scotland has a population of 5 million people and a key source of North Sea oil. The vote could end Scotland’s 307-year union with the United Kingdom.
I don't know where these Accuracy in Media dopes were the last couple years, but this is old news. That loser Cameron signed an agreement with the Scotchies years ago about a succession. From my recollection, the majority of people there don't want full leave of England. They want more power for their own parliament.
