Japanese air bag maker Takata Corp. bowed to pressure from U.S. safety regulators Tuesday and agreed to declare 33.8 million air bags defective. The declaration doubles the number of air bag inflators that will be recalled in the U.S. and expands a regional passenger air bag recall from high-humidity Gulf Coast states to the entire nation.
