According to the CIA, it knew that Saudi Arabia was serious about bringing down Syrian President Assad when they put Prince Bandar bin Sultan al-Saud on the case. For 20 years, Prince Bandar was the Saudi ambassador to the US and a man known for his ability to get things done, using above- and below-the-table means.
Now, Bandar has reportedly set his sights on achieving a major Saudi goal: toppling Assad and reducing the influence of Iran and Hezbollah, Assad's allies. For months, Bandar has been traveling around the world on a quiet but well-funded mission to topple Syria's regime.
